Astro Coat - Spray Grade is a spray-applied ablative coating designed for use with coated fire batt systems to help reinstate the fire performance of wall and floor constructions where service penetrations or openings have been formed.

Formulated as a flexible protective coating, it is applied to the surface of the batt to create a robust fire stopping seal around single or multiple service penetrations. It is suitable for use in a wide range of passive fire protection applications, including rigid and flexible wall constructions, rigid floors, multi-service openings, blank openings and head-of-wall details.

This product forms part of a tested fire stopping solution and is intended for use where reliable compartmentation needs to be maintained around penetrations. In addition to fire performance, the system has also been assessed for areas such as air leakage and acoustic performance, making it a practical option for projects requiring a broader sealing solution.

Astro Coat - Spray Grade is supplied in a 5kg tub and is typically selected as part of a complete passive fire protection build-up where coated batt systems are being installed around cable, pipe or mixed-service penetrations.

Installation should be carried out in line with the relevant test evidence, certification, substrate requirements and the service manufacturer’s guidance. The suitability of the full sealing arrangement should always be checked against the specific wall or floor construction and the penetrant types involved.

Once installed, fire stopping seals should be inspected periodically as part of the building’s ongoing fire safety and maintenance regime. Any damaged or disturbed areas should be repaired to maintain system integrity.
